    European starling

Have started showing up at the feeders. They are staying on the ground, but I don't think I want them around. Has anyone else had a problem with them taking over?

Ugh I had about 10 out there. They mostly stayed on the ground away from the feeder, but one tried to get on the feeder and started to chase a cardinal away. I may have to load the pellet gun up and dispose of the pests,.

i've noticed that they espcially liked the suet i had out last year.

i'd make it so it's accessible only from below to keep them out, while allowing the woodpeckers etc to get to it.

I haven't had any problems with Starlings, it's the House Sparrows that get on my nerves.

    Re: European starling

We have lots of Starling here in the Willamette Valley.  I shoot them with my Pellet rifle as they are a non native invasive specie.  I think that is why I don't see as many Robins, or Kildeer as I did when I was a kid.  My feeders are under trees so the starling don't come around.  I do have a boat load of house finch's though.  They can go thru 40lbs of birdseed in less than a month.

I really don't enjoy them but they are too stupid and innocent to shoot. :-(   Have had hords of Ravens move into my area.  Eugene OR.

Even the Audoban society says to shoot Starlings.  They out compete our native birds for habitat and food.  I'm sure everyone knows that though.  .
