But hey, how many times does an east-coaster get to see a California Condor? They were the first one's I'd ever seen, and my father, who is much more into birding than I am, has never seen one. My wife and I took a trip to Phoenix last week and included a trip to the Grand Canyon.
First up, the location.

Next, here's a shot of the view from the general area.

Now, here's the immature. I was using my Minolta Maxxum D-SLR for all the pictures. This one and the next were at 210mm and a 2x convertor. Notice you can read the wing tag, I guess all condors are tagged, and many also have a radio transmitter so their location can be tracked.

Sitting not very far away from that one, was a mature condor. People who had been there longer than me said there were SIX in the area that had flown in. I only saw these two (plus maybe a third, but I couldn't get a good look to know from where I was, and lost track of where it was when I tried to get closer for a better view).
This space for rent.
