    Bluebird?

Hey Gil, found this site through your siggy on SL-I. Its been my hobbie to take pictures of birds as well which is unique because I live on the 19th floor of a building. That doesn't stop all kinds of weird stuff landing on my window sill. Case and point:

    Re: Bluebird?

hey.  great to see you here.  we could definitely use the traffic.  ivwarrior is on here too, but he hasn't been posting for a while now.

anyway, that's a nice pic.  unfortunately, i cannot tell if it's a bluebird or not since i ahve never seen one in person.  Big Smile [:D]

it always amazed me how the birds found their way onto ledges and such.  my family used to live on the 24th floor and we always saw swallows and mynahs hanging around.

    Re: Bluebird?

I don't know what it is, but I do know that it is definitely not a bluebird. Great picture!

    Re: Bluebird?

It's a warbler, I am quite positive. But um, I don't know what species.

    Hehehehe.

Cool pic. And an even cooler visitor.

did you find anything more definitive?

    Re: Bluebird?

The closest I can come up with is McGillivrays Warbler, Kirtlands Warbler, or possibly female Northern Parula, but all of those species have some signifigant difference's from the one pictured...

If i know what general area the pic was taken in i might be able to hunt down what it is...

    Gil:

I mentioned to Gil that it is most possibly a Northern Parula based on certain definitive markings from the photograph itself.

Green back, white markings above & below the eyes, yellow chest, and the white on the wing bars.

Here is a photo from a site I found:

What an absolutely delightful little thing! I love birds. *sigh* They don't talk back to you.
